Sprouts Chaat: A Healthy Tangy Snack

Ingredients

  • Bean Sprouts- 1 Cup

  • Green Chile- 1 Finely Chopped

  • Cumin- 1/2 tsp

  • Asafoetida- 1/4 tsp

  • Ground Cumin- 1 tsp

  • Red Chilli power to taste

  • Lemon Juice- 1 piece

  • Kala namak (Himalayan black salt)- 1/2 Tsp

  • Finely Chopped Onion- 1 piece

  • Chopped Coriander- 2 tsp

  • Oil- 1/2 tsp

Directions

  • In a non-stick pan heat oil and add asafoetida and cumin seeds followed by chopped and deseeded green chilies.
  • As soon as the cumin sputters, add bean sprouts and salt. Cover and cook the sprouts for about 5-7 minutes. Cook till the sprouts get completely steamed but still retain some crunch.
  • Remove from pan and mix Cumin powder, red chili powder, Kala namak, and lemon juice.
  • Sauté the butter in the frying pan until it is golden brown and has a nutty smell. Remove from heat, let cool, and add the lemon juice.
  • Garnish with onions and coriander and serve as a snack.
